Title: Cocoa Drop Cookies

Yield: 5 Dozen

1/2cShortening
1cSugar
1 Egg
3/4cButtermilk
1tsVanilla extract
1 3/4cFlour, all-purpose
1/2tsSoda
1/2tsSalt
1/2cCocoa
1cPecans; chopped (or walnuts)

Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg, beating well. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract.

Combine flour, soda, salt, and cocoa; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in pecans. Chill dough 1 hour.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. By Jack Elvis on Jul 24, 1997
